(late)Movie Saturdays!:The Thing

To those of you who have never heard about it, The Thing is a sci-fi horror flick about a group of American Researchers in Antartica that take in a Huskie that they save from a trigger happy norweigen and after one night of taking the dog in they experience something out of theyre worst nightmare. It turns out that aliens do exist and one has crash landed on earth thousands of years ago only to be frozen and preserved in the ice lands of Antartica. The americans discover about the alien after the dog they save kills most of the other dogs in the kennel at there base and get a glimpse of the horrific monster that once resemble a perfectly fine dog. They later find out that the creature was discovered by another group of Norweigen scientist and to have theyre base burned down and the entire crew were dead by the alien creature(except for the two killed in the very beginning) and they rush back to inform the others. Throughout the movie its a guessing game on who is the thing and when it will stirke. Theyres betrayal, mistrust, breakdowns and grusome deaths. Besides having abit of a cheesy dialouge and special effects its none the less a great movie to watch and itll make your stomach churn on some parts. Ive seen it many times and im still disturbed by the gruesome scenes and images of this film. Oh and theyre making a remake of this film and im looking forward to it and ill make sure to write a review on it too.

Viral/Video: Epic Meal Time

For those of you living under a rock and don't know about Epic Meal Time, here you go. A Canadian group of fatasses with the intent of making food porn. With the lead narrator Harley Morenstein who started it with friend Sterling Toth. The food revolves usually around bacon and Jack Daniels. Some of the more absurd meals they have made are the Fast Food Lasagna which was a ridiculous amount of burgers covered in bacon and cheese. Another was for Valentines Day when they ate chocolate covered lamb hearts. In just under a year the channel has gained over a million subscribers which in the YouTube world is hard to do. Here's to food porn!

News: Steve Jobs Dead at age 56. Lost Video Included

Today October 5th, 2011 the world lost a revolutionary mind and from what I've heard an amazing human being. Steve Jobs born February 4th, 1955, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2004. Though he beat the cancer, five years later in 2009, he received a liver transplant. Between those five years Jobs took a hefty amount of time to tend to his health but would return to create things like the iPhone. In August of this year (2011), Steve Jobs resigned as CEO from Apple leaving Tim Cook as his successor. Over the years many people have speculated about Jobs'  health but no one suspected he would leave us this year. Steve Jobs is known best for starting up Apple along with Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne. In the beginning, they would make computers, most notably the Macintosh. Apple's Macintosh was and still is the top competitor to the major computer company Microsoft. In 2001, Jobs was part in the creation of the iPod. The iPod would be a major hit selling millions and allowing for variations that would give it a smaller size, bigger space, touch screen, and a camera. Along with the advances to the portable music industry, Jobs would revolutionize the phone industry with the iPhone. The iPhone would be a top notch phone that would set a standard for smartphones all across the world. Then again would come out with something some would call an over-sized iPod Touch, the iPad. Once again paving the way for tablets that could do more than read books. Though I am not a fan of Macs, Steve Jobs has truly revolutionized the technology business and affect millions of people. Rest In Peace Steve Jobs.

Video Game/Review: Deus Ex: Human Revolution

Awhile ago, I walked into gamestop looking for a game to pass the time. I walked around the selection and noticed that Deus Ex had a price drop and having heard from my friend that its a game close to Metal Gear, Mass Effect, and Fallout 3 had a kid together that is what this would be. They were completely right. This game is simply amazing and so addicting. In the game, you play as head of security Adam Jenson in one of the most powerful human augmentation corporations, Sarif Industries. In the beginning you have to fend off some mercenarys that attack and kill lab staff in the buildings laboratory an you start off as a regular human being with no augmentations or even a HUD(heads up display). As you continue, something really serious happens to Adam and you end up having to go through intensive surgery and wake up better than new and fully augmented. Augments are futuristic enhancements that alter the body to become better than normal humans. The story is very intense and so is the gameplay. You can decide to play stealthy and safe or aggressive and violent. Though you can do a combination of any of the options. It was a real challenge and what you decide during the interactive dialouges decides the outcome of your mission, either it will aid you and open a shortcut or shut you out and make it difficult to reach your goal. There are 4 different endings all of which really open your mind and cause you to think about our current world. I love this game and its great! I highly recommend this game!

Music/Bio: Fitz and The Tantrums

Fitz and The Tantrums is a funk indie-pop soul band with a retro band style started in 2008. Started by a heart-broken Micheal Fitzgerald who got a call from his ex-girlfriend saying her neighbor had an old Conn Organ to sell for 50 dollars. That night he had an electric organ and a hit on his hands. He wrote "Breakin' the Chains of Love" that night and through some phone calls he put together a group of amazing artist. Fitz himself on lead vocals, the lovely Noelle Scaggs on back up vocals and tambourine, James King on saxophone and flute, Joseph Karnes on bass, Jeremy Ruzumna on keyboards, and John Wicks on the drums. All of these artist and instruments made an amazing funky soul/pop band that would be performing large venues within three years. The band has released two EP's (Santa Stole My Lady & Songs for a Breakup Volume 1) and an album called Pickin' Up the Pieces. The group has performed on many late-night talk shows like Jimmy Kimmel Live, Conan, Jay Leno, and George Lopez. They also have performed on radio stations and many festivals. The band brings an energetic and explosive performance each and every time they perform, often making the crowd join in on the music. Named the "Hardest-Working Band" of 2011 by Vogue Daily and I am inclined to agree. I and two friends had the chance to see them live in San Francisco at the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival at Golden Gate Park. THEY ROCKED. Though there were a lot of high/drunk hippies around, it didn't stop Fitz and The Tantrums from blowing the lid off San Francisco. I wish my friends and I had gotten there earlier to get a better spot because we were not in the closest place(see pics below). We had an amazing time watching the explosive performance that the band brought and we hope to see them in the Bay Area again soon.

Movie Saturdays! :Mystery Team Review

The Mystery Team is a 2009 movie released by YouTube comedy group derrickscomedy. During the early years of YouTube, derrickscomedy was one of the most watched channels throughout the website. The movie was written by Donald Glover, DC Pierson, Dominic Dierkes, Dan Eckman (also directed), and Meggie McFadden. The movie cast features some actors/actresses Donald met while writing for 30 Rock. The three main characters are played by the main members of the group, Donald, DC, and Dominic. The film, premiered at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival, is about three senior-year students that have yet to grow up. The story follows the "Mystery Team", a group started as young children solving childish crimes like taking two milks at lunch time or punching a dog in the face. Now Jason(Donald Glover), Duncan(DC Pierson), and Charlie(Dominic Dierkes) are 18 and about to graduate high school but lack an adult mindset. The group is shown in their high school setting as being social pariahs. Their cases have been childish up until the day a girl shows up and asks them to solve her parents murders. Here is where the romantic interest for Jason comes in. Kelly(Aubrey Plaza) is the sister of the little girl and is skeptical about the Mystery Teams detective skills. Out to prove they are real detectives, the Mystery Team uses Scooby-Doo like detective techniques to solve the double homicide. The drama within the murder and within the team was great. Jason realizes he is going nowhere with his life when his friends talk about college while he gets left behind. This movie throws childish teens into an extremely dark and bleak situation. The movie is ridiculous, outrageous, hilarious, dark and dramatic It goes from a strip club to a lumber yard to a chase with a drug dealer. Directed greatly by Dan Eckman and the music composed by Donald Glover makes an amazing combination that enhances the movie. I highly recommend watching this film which is available on netflix and a variety of websites. The group of derrickscomedy is an amazing comedy team and I hope to see another movie from them in the future.
