Meme/Video/Viral/Bio: A Little History on "Rick Roll"

Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up", released in 1987, became a smash hit of the time. Thought it was a big hit at the time, sometime around 2007, it hit the internet like a storm. People (some called "Trolls"), started misdirecting others to this video. This act was called "RickRolling". At first they would bait them with an exciting title or description and then link them to the song. The URL could be masked by websites so the receiver would have no idea of the impending joke. Many fell victim to once terrible song, the main "rickroll'd" video has over 58million views on YouTube. It remains to be a staple in the meme community.

-On a personal note, in 2008 I got RickRoll'd so many times that it stopped being annoying and I started enjoying the song.

Video Games: Gears of War 3

Man, I have been waiting for this game for such a long time and I am so happy it is finally here. Gears of War 3 is the final of the Gears of War series where humans on the planet Sera have been fiercely fighting with the Locust(human like dinosaurs) ever since they emerged from underground caves stating the planet is rightfully theirs to conquer and that they will eradicate the human race for polluting it. Now I'm not going spoil the campaign for everyone but I am gonna say that the story is amazing and will have you in awe to the awesome characters and action that occur. As great as it was it had one thing I didn't really like, the campaign seemed short of how a gears game should be. I remember it took me a good action packed hours each day just to beat the first and second Gears of War but Gears 3 felt like it took only a few hours to beat. Yet, the fun doesn't stop there in the campaign, there are a variety of multiplayer game modes. In one of these you can play on Xbox Live with up to 3 other people and run through the entire story in Standard or Arcade mode where its basically a competition on who can rack up the most points from killing the most enemies. There are "mutators" you can use to make the game harder or funner by adding a laughtrack each time you kill an enemy or disabling ammo caches and making the player resort to scavenging fallen enemy weapons, making ammo scarce. The multiplayer is nothing short of f**king great! I love tearing it up in TDM (Team Death Match) or CTL (Capture the Leader) with the classic Gnasher shotgun and newly introduced Retro Lancer. The improved horde mode is highly addicting especially now that you can buy turrets, barriers, sentry guns, and explosive dummies and like campaign, you can turn on "mutators" in private games making the experience even more enjoyable! None the less the campaign was amazingly awesome along with the multiplayer! In the end Gears of War 3 has surpassed expectations and is a definite keeper. See you guys online!! Watch out for the sawed off shotguns and my gnasher. ;)

Meme: The Cyber Police Dun' Goofed

To the left of this text is a picture of the head of the Cyber Police. For those of you that are not familiar with the meme that spawned out of the Jessie Slaughter internet incidents. The tween poked at the internet trolls until they struck back causing Jessie's father to get involved. Here is where multiple memes started in where her father said such things as he "Backtraced" or he contacted the "Cyber Police." So here's to the father of the emotionally unstable girl, thank you for the laughter you have brought to the internet. Rest in Peace.

Viral/Video Games: The Legend Of Zelda Stupidity

Ready to laugh? If you are a fan of the popular video game series, Legend of Zelda, you hated the stupid late-80's cartoon, well at least the fact that it was stupid. The Youtube channel of "TheSw1tcher" took the short-lived series and added comedic value to an otherwise piece of crap. Though the video has a hint of dirty jokes, it pokes fun at the producers attempts at referencing the video game. In my opinion, this video should be a big hit in the meme community. Here's hoping!

Viral/Movie: I Got These Chees Burgers!

"I got these cheeseburgers man." The classic line from the 90's parody movie in response to all the "Living in the Hood" movies. This may be one of the weirder scenes but I still recommend that you go and watch this movie!

Movie: Lion King 3D

Today, I went to spend time with my girlfriend and her family at the theater and we got tickets for The Lion King 3D. What can I say besides that it was the same movie it was when it first released. It was still a heartwarming, laugh ensuing, and sad flick that many still love and remember. There wasn't much to really be surprised by except for the 3D. At first I was questioning was it really worth paying 18 bucks(i didn't pay) just to watch a movie that I had in VHS at home? No, but i don't have a giant widescreen TV or surround sound quality like they do at the theaters, but it still was not worth it. Though, the 3D made it more entertaining, like when Mufasa was dropped from the cliff by Scar. That made the impact harder seeing the depth of the fall or when Zazu was flying through the sky towards Pride Rock, I couldn't help but reach out and try to grasp and squeeze him as it appeared he was coming down from the ceiling and actually whizzing by in the theater. The movie was great none the less. It had its laughs, cries ,and romantic moments. But its not really worth it to pay to watch the movie in theaters when most people have it in VHS or DVD. If you have money to burn or are invited to watch it with friends or family, then it is worth it. It is more of a date flick than anything else. So take a friend or a date that would enjoy watching an old timeless classic.

Viral: THE MINIGUN - FPS Russia Background

Enjoy crazy "Russians" shooting powerful weapons? You may enjoy this. "FPS Russia" (a.k.a Dmitri) may seem like your friendly neighborhood gun-toting maniac Russian, but the face does not match the name. This so called "Dmitri" is actually 24-year old Kyle Myers from Georgia. Kyle first started out on Youtube under the name "FPSKyle", a name derived from the web television personality from Pure Pwnage, FPS Doug. Kyle started his Youtube account in 2006 mainly watching Halo 2 montages. Around this time was a movement in the gaming community called "Gameplay Commentaries." Gameplay commentaries we a success on the huge channel Machinima and on Youtube. Here is when Kyle made his channel into a gaming commentary channel. He was gaining a name in the gaming community. About a year and a half ago, Kyle created a different persona to do comedic commentaries with. Here is when FPSRussia became bigger than FPSKyle. FPSRussia was a huge success, commentating over Call of Duty gameplay in a Russian accent was something never conceived of. Thousands suspected Kyle was the one behind FPSRussia but none could prove it at the time. Kyle saw the reception Russia was getting so he decided to make this separate persona it's own channel. That channel was for all content FPSRussian. Eventually Kyle decided to mix it up a bit and do a combination of gameplay and a video about the certain weapon he is using in the game. He would shoot a certain gun then show Call of Duty gameplay of him using the weapon. Eventually he got rid of the gameplay section and completely switched to him shooting his personal collection and bizarre weapons. He has collaborated with the big Youtube hit Epic Meal Time. Now FPSRussia is one of the Youtube elite with over a million subscribers (16th most subscribed) and with over 250 million views.

Kyle Myers Background - Kyle was raised (probably born too) in Georgia. Out of high school he started selling cars. He moved to Atlanta because of a relationship and worked at a Ford dealership where he learned to do the Russian accent from his boss. Overworked, he moved back to his home town and took some time off and kicked off his Youtube career. Kyle has ompeted in professional shooting competitions which is where he says he "won" his 20,000 dollar Benelli but we all know he is as rich as Scrooge McDuck (inside joke).

For the fans of the hilarious show, Chappelle Show. Here is a humorous take on the infamous True Hollywood Story of Charlie Murphy from Chappelle Show.
